On April 14, 2025, a meeting was held with the participation of the heads of the investigative units of the Main Department of the National Police in Khmelnytskyi region and the Prosecutor's Office, the Head of the Khmelnytskyi Branch of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise Anatolii Poplavskyi and forensic experts Iryna Stadnik, Nataliia Hurina and Olena Nyzhnyk.

Anatolii Poplavskyi, the Head of the Khmelnytskyi Branch of KFI, highlighted the general issues related to the appointment of examinations in criminal proceedings, in particular, the correctness of execution of the decisions on the appointment of examinations, the timing and priority of examinations and obtaining expert opinions.

The topic of the meeting concerned problematic issues and peculiarities of the appointment of forensic psychological examinations related to the determination of non-pecuniary damage to persons held in captivity, the use of their results during pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings, as well as the peculiarities of the appointment of forensic economic examinations.

Forensic expert Iryna Stadnik explained in detail the peculiarities of appointing forensic psychological examinations to determine the moral damage of persons held in captivity. Investigators were provided with a recommended list of questions that comply with scientific and methodological recommendations and will allow for the most complete and effective research.

Forensic experts Natalia Gurina and Olena Nyzhnyk highlighted the peculiarities and nuances that arise when appointing forensic economic examinations, in particular, the compliance of the issues of the resolution with the methodological recommendations and the limits of expert competence. The circumstances of seizure of the object of research, which are important when conducting forensic economic examinations, were discussed.

In the course of the constructive dialogue, the participants exchanged views and suggestions on ways to resolve problematic issues that arise during the appointment and conduct of forensic examinations in criminal proceedings.
