On March 31, 2025, Vladyslav Smirnov, Senior Forensic Expert of the Phonoscopic, Computer and Telecommunication Research Department of the Criminalistics Laboratory, participated in the scientific and practical seminar of the Ukrainian Scientific Research Institute of Special Equipment and Forensic Expertise of the Security Service of Ukraine “Examination of Video and Sound Recording: Difficulties and Innovations”.

During the event, the following issues were discussed: creation of modern methods for studying the voice and speech of announcers, digital materials and video and sound recording equipment; experience of European forensic institutions in the study of a large number of phonograms; comparability of voice and speech samples with the studied phonograms; features of the study of “difficult” phonograms by linguistic methods; importance of analyzing file metadata in the course of video and sound recording research; problems and innovations in the use of artificial intelligence in forensic examination of video and sound recordings.
