Research on the antiquity of documents: KNIICE experts participated in the international ENFSI conference in Lisbon, which was dedicated to the topic “One Evidence, Two Disciplines: Reuniting forensic handwriting and document examination”

Olena Malei, who heads the Department of Documentary Materials Research of the Laboratory of Special Types of Research of the KNIICE, and leading forensic expert Anna Artamonova represented the Institute at an international conference held by the ENFSI working groups on document research (EDEWG) and handwriting (ENFHEX)

The experts' presentations focused on the technical examination of document age. They elucidated how gas chromatography can determine the age of written entries and demonstrated specimen materials exhibiting indications of artificial document ageing. During the practical workshop, the Ukrainian experts also presented genuine forensic casework involving intricate challenges to their European counterparts.

Professional dialogue at the international level reaffirms the alignment of KNDISE research methodologies with contemporary European scientific standards.
