On November 20, 2024, the Cherkasy Branch of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise held a seminar “Topical Issues of Forensic Expertise. Problematic issues that arise during the appointment and conduct of commodity, engineering and environmental, handwriting and forensic economic examinations”.

The seminar was attended by prosecutors of the Cherkasy District Prosecutor’s Office, inquirers and investigators of the Cherkasy District Police Department of the Cherkasy Oblast Police and forensic experts of the Cherkasy Branch of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise.

The event was opened by Antonina Yefimenko, the Head of the Department, who introduced the participants to the possibilities of conducting expert research at the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise.

Leading forensic expert Nataliia Barska presented the main requirements for the objects submitted for commodity expertise, the peculiarities of organizing and conducting examinations of goods. Senior forensic expert Nataliia Holubieva reported on the peculiarities of collecting materials in criminal proceedings for engineering and environmental examinations. Chief Forensic Expert Iryna Syvova focused on the peculiarities of appointing and conducting forensic economic examinations. Oleksandr Mamchur, Deputy Head of the Department, spoke about the modern possibilities of forensic handwriting examination.

During the productive discussions and exchange of views, the participants also discussed other topical issues of cooperation between the experts of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise and employees of the regional prosecutor’s office and investigative bodies.
