On October 29, 2021, an international scientific and practical conference “Countering Cyber Threats in the Modern Security Environment: Topical Issues of Theory and Practice”. It was held, organized by the Ukrainian Scientific and Research Institute of Special Equipment and Forensic Expertise of the Security Service of Ukraine together with the National Coordination Center for Cybersecurity at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
Nataliia Nestor, Deputy Director for Science, represented the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise at the conference.
The purpose of the event is to exchange best practices in the field of cybersecurity and develop communication between interested government agencies of Ukraine and foreign partners.
During the conference, participants discussed issues of forensic support to combat cybercrime.
The following issues were also addressed at the event:
- Normative-legal and technical regulation of creation of the national system of cybersecurity and counteraction to cyber threats;
- The practice of investigating cyber incidents;
- Features of collecting digital evidence and investigating cyberattacks using ransomware;
- Operational support for the detection of cyberattacks and measures to combat acts of cyberterrorism and cyber espionage on critical infrastructure and other issues.
At the end of the event, all participants agreed that countering cyber threats is a topical issue not only for Ukraine but also for the whole world. The exchange of best practices in combating cybercrime during scientific activities allows for the creation of effective approaches to the prevention, detection and investigation of such crimes. Additionally, based on the results of the event, a Collection of conference proceedings will be published.
