On April 22, 2022, a meeting of the section of forensic traceology and ballistics examinations at the Scientific Advisory and Methodological Council on Forensic Science at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine was held by videoconference.
From the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine in the work of the section participated:
- Nataliia Nestor, Deputy Director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise;
- Viktor Kostetskyi, Head of the Criminalistics Laboratory;
- Tymur Tsapko, Head of the Trasological, Ballistics, Explosive and Weapons Research Department;
- Ihor Samoilenko, Chief Forensic Expert of the Trasological, Ballistics, Explosive and Weapons Research Department of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise.
During the meeting, specialists of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise proposed to include in the Thematic Plan of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine the following research topics: “Improvement of the methodology for assessing the suitability of dynamic traces for identification research”, “Improvement of the methodology of identification of smoothbore rifles by traces on shells”.
During the meeting of the section the progress of the research in accordance with the Thematic plan of research work of research institutions of forensic examinations of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine for the current year was discussed, reviews of expert opinions and other topical issues of forensic examination.
