A meeting of the forensic fire and technical examination section took place

On May 5, 2022, in accordance with the plan of the Scientific Advisory and Methodological Council on Forensic Science at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, a meeting of the section of forensic fire and technical examination was held by videoconference. The section from the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine was attended by:

  • Nataliia Nestor, Deputy Director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise;
  • Oleksandr Shmereho, Head of the Department of Life Safety Research, Fire Engineering and Electrical Engineering Research Laboratory of Engineering and Technical Types of Research, Head of the Section;
  • Oleksandr Lysenko, Deputy Head of the Department of Life Safety Research, Fire Engineering and Electrical Engineering Research Laboratory of Engineering and Technical Types of Research, Section Secretary;
  • Ihor Stelmashov, Leading Forensic Expert of the Zhytomyr branch of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise.

At the meeting of the section there was a discussion of issues on the agenda, namely: hearing reports on completed research work; review of the state of implementation of research work carried out according to the thematic plan of research of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine for 2022; annotated R&D reports, progress of R&D completion in the current year; issues of improving methods.

In addition, at the initiative of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise representatives, the issue of initiating a forensic examination of civil protection and specialty 10.30 “Research in the field of civil protection” was submitted for consideration and voting. Oleksandr Shmereho, Head of the Section, stressed that the issues of this specialty are urgent in connection with the hostilities in Ukraine. The proposal was approved and voted unanimously by all participants of the section.
