On the eve of the anniversary of the battles for Ilovaisk, the “Facts” newspaper appealed to Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise with a request for comment on the study of tragic events.
Oleksandr Ruvin, Director of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise talked to the correspondent and spoke about the key points of the relevant forensic examination.
The preface to the article reads as follows: “The withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Ilovaisk on August 29, 2014 was one of the most tragic episodes of the Russian-Ukrainian war in the Donbas. Immediately after the events in Ilovaisk, a special commission was set up under the leadership of Oleksandr Ruvin, Director of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise. Work was ongoing during the year. The experts restored the entire chronology of those tragic events literally throughout all minutes. There was clear evidence of armed aggression of the troops of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. In general, material was collected for the International Criminal Court in the Hague”.
During the conversation, Oleksandr Ruvin, Director of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise noted that the expert commission consisted of 27 people, including former leaders of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine. Among the main tasks are to study the facts of Russian military aggression and assess the damage caused by the loss of arms of our army.
“Experts have set events from start to finish, the entire chronology, starting with the planning of this operation and ending with the exit of our fighters from the “pocket”. In addition, we have all the data on the ratio of forces. We studied the journal of military operations, intelligence reports, orders of the high command and military actions,” noted Oleksandr Ruvin.
According to Oleksandr Ruvin, Director of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, the work of experts continued throughout the year and during this period hundreds of documents and eyewitness accounts were analyzed.
“We know many other facts. What day and in what quantity did Russian troops enter the territory of Ukraine. As evidence, we even know the names of many servicemen from Russia who took part in the hostilities against Ukraine. They used the identification marks of the so-called “DPR”, but with them were their military cards. We know the whole chronology of how separatists, with the support of the military from Russia, captured Ukrainian settlements,” said Oleksandr Ruvin.
